FGI
– 516 Removable Peelable Coating Unique Coatings – Extreme Results Description
FGI-516 is engineered to protect
construction equipment, cranes, ladders, lifts, booms, manlifts, ships or boat
decks during construction and storage against minor abrasion and staining. It
is weather resistant for several months and will perform over most non-porous
surfaces including Glass reinforced Plastics-GRP, non porous wood surfaces and
non-skid painted surfaces. FGI-516
is a water borne temporary protective peelable coating with built in traction
anti slippery particles for walking. This
acrylic peelable water-borne coating forms a tough, flexible, UV resistant
temporary film that can be easily stripped after just a few hours, or stays
flexible, pliable and peelable for months. FGI-516 contains no strong solvents that can mar or damage
other surfaces. FGI-516 is
intended for use as a protective coating over fiberglass gel coats or plastic
laminates, but may be used to temporarily protect other surfaces providing suitability
is conformed by test application. FGI-516 may be removed by manually peeling away. FGI-516 peelable coating is non flammable and
non combustible as supplied and when the dry peelable film is formed and is
also low slip hazard. Designed especially for floors, it has built in traction to walk on it
and avoid slippage. FGI-516 films
are tough and durable to handle heavy forklift and foot traffic. Perfect for
floor areas around presses, spray
areas, high traffic routes. It is easy to apply and very easy to peel.
Maintenance costs with FGI-516 are
reduced and floors are maintained in brand new condition. FGI-516 has no VOC's FGI-516 can be used on concrete, tile, glass, ceramic, laminates, brick, and
many other non-porous clean surfaces such as:
Ø
Construction equipment
Ø
Concrete floors-painted or sealed
Ø
Tile Floors- with sealed grout
Ø
Wood floors-seal bare wood floors first
to prevent pulling up wood fibers
Ø
Laminate flooring
Ø
Brick Floors-Apply sealant first
Ø
Steel, aluminum, brass, copper and
other ferrous and non ferrous metals
Ø
Glass, plastic and acrylics like Lexan
Ø
Other non-porous or well sealed floor
materials. FGI-516 is a Blue/Green water resistant, peelable temporary protective coating
which has many applications. It can be used to protect various types of
surfaces during industrial processing. FGI-516
air dries quickly, leaving a tough, clear flexible coating that is easily
removed from a variety of surfaces. FGI-516
represents the ultimate in waterborne removable coating technology. It is
stabilized against brittleness and is not softened or penetrated by most
water-based compounds. FGI-516 is good over cement, linoleum and floors painted with enamels that are
resistant to water. Benefits To You:
Ø
Temporary Protective Floor Peelable
Coatings
Ø
No Flash point Water Based for
environment and worker safety
Ø
Durable Peelable coating with Built in
Traction for avoiding slippage
Ø
Keeps everything underneath clean Application: FGI-516 should be used as received.
It can be applied by airless spray, paint roller, or brush. The coating dries
upon water evaporation. FGI-516 should be applied to form a
dry film in the range of 5 to 10 mils (.005" to .010") thick.
Application temperature is ambient to no lower than 50ºF. Drying times will be
affected by humidity, film thickness, air movement and temperature. Best time
to apply is on week-ends or late afternoons to give coating time to dry. Proper
fan placement can speed the dry time by removing water at a much faster rate.
Application by roller might require a few coats. Thick coating peels in one
large continuous sheet. Thin coatings will break in areas of coating weakness. FGI-516 is water based for safe use and easy water clean up. When
applying FGI-516 use the same protection as used while applying paint Note: It is critical to achieve correct dry film thickness for removal
and peeling. Application may be Lambs wool Ships Roller or by spray (conventional air
or airless spray equipment with 21 thou tip size). Take measures to protect and Mask areas against overspray. Be careful
and avoid spraying into small openings where the coating may become thin and
subsequently difficult to remove. Must try to achieve a defined edge at the end of the area to be coated
by taping the outer edges or by other methods. Do not apply during rain or
frost. Precautions: The surface to be applied with
FGI-516 should be dry, clean and free from oil, grease and other water
incompatible matter. The clean surface helps even distribution of FGI-516. The surface remains clean when
FGI-516 is removed and surface clean
up will not be necessary for second time application. Patch Test: Always test a small inconspicuous area first. Because of various
substrate characteristics and conditions like porosity, deterioration,
embattlement, adverse wear area, type of ink, paint and or other coatings
applied, abrasion of panted surfaces, and the like, it is difficult to
predetermine specific effects from this product. Safety & Handling: See application and safety precautions before applying. Liquid product
is slippery when wet. Please refer to MSDS. Recommendations: Outline your floor area to be protected with the self adhesive fiber tape.
DO not overlap tap edges but keep adjacent Apply FGI-516 and let it dry.
Rinse out roller with plenty of water between coats Allow first coat to dry. Dry time will be affected by coating thickness,
application methods, humidity and air flow in the vicinity. Initial drying time is 30 minutes
approximately. Apply second coat and allow it to dry before permitting traffic
on the floor. Curing: FGI-516 cures upon water evaporation. Dry time is dependent upon temperature,
humidity, air movement and thickness of the coating. Curing may be accelerated
by forced dry air up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Force dry coatings can cure in
less than 10 minutes. Most coatings without assist will dry in a few hours. It
is imperative that FGI-516 be
thoroughly cured and dry, before an attempt is made to peel the coating from
the substrate. Cured FGI-516 is
water resistant. Floors coated with FGI-516
can be water mopped. Removal: FGI-516 is readily removed from
surfaces by peeling any exposed edge. This Peelable coating can be removed by
prying an edge and slowly lifting the coating off the floor Physical Characteristics: Color: Blue/Green Weight:9.0lbs/gallon Solids by volume: 50% VOC’s 0.00 lbs per gallon NOTE: Always
spray coating in a well ventilated area or use a NIOSH approved self
contained breathing apparatus or vapor filters on a mask. Protective gloves and
safety glasses must be worn at all times. Be aware of
over-spray so it will not land on any item that is not to be coated. Please contact an F G International technician with
questions on proper use and/or application. Consult your MSDS information sheets for proper handling, disposal, and precautions while using this product. Storage Stability &
Shelf Life The shelf life of FGI-516 is 6 MONTHS FROM DATE OF
SHIPMENT when stored in original, unopened container. FGI-516 should be stored in the original shipping
container with temperatures between 60 and 90 degrees F. Container should be
sealed until needed. Protection from freezing is necessary. Store cans in a well ventilated and covered
area away from extreme heat and moisture. Please contact your FGI representative
