FGI – 375 Clear Ceramic Coating/Marine
Coating
Unique Coatings – Extreme
Results
Description
FGI – 375 is an extremely unique ultimate
performance Clear Ceramic Coating in a construction, industrial grade
mar-resistant satin (low-sheen) clear thin-film coating designed as a top or
finish coating with excellent adhesion to ferrous and non-ferrous metals,
plastics, paints, and powder coated substrates. This coating resists
solvents, fuels, paints, and reduces cleanup on surfaces and was also
formulated to act as anti-graffiti and/or release coating on buildings,
walls, and highway signs, etc.
FGI-375 out-performs other construction,
industrial grade mar-resistant clear coatings while being applied at only up
to 2.0 mils. The thin film disposition of the material eliminates the need
for masking of close tolerance fittings.
FGI-375 is designed for ease of application,
extreme performance, and durability in a single component, ambient cure
system.
Application Methods
Preparation of substrate is crucial for
maximum adhesion and performance of this product. On exceptionally slick
or repellent surfaces, we suggest using our FGI Primer, FGI- P48 This
primer is formulated to increase adhesion to various substrates and to
promote inter-coat adhesion with the Clear Ceramic Coatings.
1) Any heavy or loose rust, dirt, scale, other coatings, oils and/or
contaminates should be removed from the substrate surface. Remove by
means of degreasing, blasting, bristle or wire brush, compressed air,
heat or any combination of these processes. Surface rust is acceptable
if the scale is thin and tight to the substrate. If abrasive blasting is
used, a dry grit material such as aluminum oxide or garnet with 100-120
mesh size or equivalent is recommended.
2) For plastics or carbon fiber, the surfaces should be free of oils or
other surface contaminants. Contaminants can be removed by wiping down
with denatured alcohol or equivalent. Use of a lint free cloth is
recommended for this process.
3) Product may be sprayed, brushed or rolled on. For brush application
use a foam pad or brush, or a soft natural bristle brush. For spray
application use a HVLP spray gun with or without a pressure pot. PSI can
be adjusted for particular application. Material does not need to
be thinned. Use as received.
4) Make sure the product is completely mixed and no solids remain in the
bottom of the container. Failure to completely disperse the product will
result in poor chemical ratios and product failure.
5) Just before coating the substrate, use a high-pressure air nozzle to
blow off any dirt, dust, or lint that may have settled on the surface.
Wear safety goggles or face shield for your protection.
6) For large areas, material can be poured onto a section and spread
with a large applicator pad. Small parts can be sprayed for ease of
application. Hang parts to be sprayed to allow for best view and
application access.
Do not touch parts with bare skin as oils may impair adhesion.
7) Two applications of product are recommended for a 1.0 to 2.0
mil film thickness. Work from the most difficult surface out to the
easiest. This will aid in reducing runs
or excessive build up. Do not overbuild coating. NOTE:
Always use in well ventilated area; if not possible, use a NIOSH
approved self contained breathing apparatus or vapor filters on a mask.
Protective gloves and safety glasses must be worn at all times. Caution:
With the extreme adhesion characteristics of this product all safety
procedures must be followed.
Be aware of over-spray so it will not land on any item that is not to be
coated.
8) Parts will be tack free after approximately 35 minutes.
9) Parts will be partially cured after 24 hours. Full cure and hardness
does not take place until 5 to 6 days after application.
10) Finished goods may be shipped after 24 hours.
11) Clean tools and equipment with acetone or xylene.
Please contact a FGI technician with questions on proper use and/or
application.
Consult your MSDS information sheets for proper handling, disposal, and
precautions while using this product.
